Seduced by the delicacy and beauty of porcelain, the designer behind Carlotha Ray sought to create a candle epitomising refinement and the French art of living. Produced in France, the Limoges porcelain tumbler is engraved with a palm motif identical to the decor on the perfume bottles. Natural and recyclable, this blend of minerals (kaolin, quartz and feldspar) has the property of allowing light to filter through its non-porous surface, giving the tumbler its exceptional character. Made of 100% vegetable wax derived from rapeseed oil and featuring a hand-set cotton wick, this Cuir de Fleur candle is nestled in a corolla-shaped paper case, reminiscent of origami and inspired by the floral packaging of the perfumes.
The candle packaging is crafted from FSC-certified paper sourced from sustainably managed forests, it contains 25% recycled materials and uses vegetable-based inks and glue in order to be 100% recyclable. It is an elegant piece born from the craftsmanship of two French companies bearing the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” label and embodies Carlotha Ray's sustainability values.
The candle reinterprets the olfactive signature of the perfume collection allowing you to experience the captivating scent of the iconic Cuir de Fleur accord created by Jean-Michel Duriez. Its botanical notes draw inspiration from Mariela’s world. The strong herbal notes of Maté, an homage to her childhood in Paraguay, blend with the delicate, apricot-like essence of Osmanthus, a flower with base notes evoking leather. It is enriched by earthy tones of Oakmoss, reminiscent of cherished Limousin forests, and vegetable leather derived from Cade Essence, carrying the comforting aroma of fireplaces. The candle combines floral and leathery aromas in a truly captivating manner and has a burn time of approximately 60 hours.
Allow the candle to burn until the entire surface is liquid, to avoid an unwanted wax ring on the sides of the glass. Once it has this ring, the candle will continue to ‘tunnel’ for the rest of its life.
Do not let the candle burn too long. The wick can ‘mushroom’ and start smoking, releasing soot.
Always trim the wick to ¼ inch before lighting and remove any debris from the wax pool. A long and crooked wick can cause flaring, uneven burning and smoking, and trimming the wick every couple of hours can increase the life of your candle.
Keep the flame away from moving air and do not move the candle when liquid or still burning and hot.
Once the candle has burned completely, clean the tumbler with warm soapy water or in the dishwasher to remove any wax residue. You can then use your tumbler to hold brushes, pencils, cotton pads etc.
